    @blamethenile your are right, you are not given an oppotunity to choose other programs available . Sad fact is that AA is only an extention of the department of corrections. AA cornered the market on a multi billion dollar industry.

    Guess what, I am an AA member and there is much truth in what is being said here. Dr Bob is my hero . To be recovered is to be restored to a former capacity . Dr Bob practiced medicine and treated 5000 alcoholics free of charge . Only Charles Towns could be a greater snake oil peddler than Bill W . Dr Silkworth a non alcoholic member of AA worked for Towns for $40.00 week . He was Bills Dr . These medical men brought credibility that no longer exists in AA . Its only an extention of the DOC

    To you, and to …
    To you, and to those required to experience AA by a civilized society, take a moment to reflect on the words of a man much wiser than myself:
    ” If you can’t do the time.
    Don’t do the crime.”
    Signing off this website forever. No more need disturb my Serenity.

    @golffoura Lots of …
    @golffoura Lots of people are required by courts, HHS agencies, employers and parole authorities to join AA. Anyone who denies that, or dismisses any and all legitimate criticism as “bashing” might be delusional. Mike

  • golffoura says:

    Let’s see, Bill W …
    Let’s see, Bill W was an Alcoholic. Wonder why he struggled with control issues?
    People who bash AA and AA members are delusional. There is no requirement to join AA, and upon joining AA, no burdens imposed upon you. If you do not like AA don’t go; just don’t get drunk and hurt innocent people.

    @blamethenile You …
    @blamethenile You talk about A.A. as it’s one person?How could I as a member of A.A. take the credit for someones sobriety or the blame if someone other than me decides to take a drink? The 12 steps as you know???? Came mostly from the Book of James.The only difference is the support of former drinkers who know what another drunk feels like most of the time.The inside Track as you say,allways has been and allways will be God! I have no relgion,but I do believe in God.What do you believe in?

  • blamethenile says:

    @mamasboy815 AA …
    @mamasboy815 AA takes all the credit for people who no longer drink, and none of the blame for those who do. Enjoy your meeting. Mike BD

    I see your still at it Brother Blamethenile. I wonder is A.A. not truly keeping you sober? @blamethenile Er, …
    @blamethenile Er, don’t be sorry bruv- I was confused because a certain program taught me to second guess every decision I ever make, because I am insane or something like that. I decided over a year ago to leave AA and NA- I have dipped my toe in, however my toe got covered in poo and I realised that my brain was next so now I’m quite happy, drinking now and then and living life because guess what- WE ARE NOT ALL THE SAME. EVERYONE IS AN INDIVIDUAL. What ever works for you, work it. All the bes

    AAs: don’t argue on …
    AAs: don’t argue on these stupid threads, it goes against the traditions.
    Non AAs: If you can get sober without meetings and stuff that’s rad. It says in the literature that if people can get well without the spiritual experience, ‘our hats are off to you.”If you have received another message in meetings, such as that there is only one way to get sober, than the person who said such things hasn’t actually read or understood the text, much less the traditions of AA.

    Continued: AA in …
    Continued: AA in it’s present form, will go the way of the Oxford groups of Bill and Bob’s day. Yes, it was well known to the members of my generation that Bill W. was not perfect. AA did not and will not defend these ” charges ” ; any one with enough dillegence will find these things out by reading. By making these facts public in their littrature there is no reason to. Fortunatly GOD proves he is; by using an imperfect tool to save a few men and women from a cruel death.

  • shareholder4500 says:

    Continued: By …
    Continued: By allowing its self to be over run with people who really don’t want to be in the meetings ( Court ordered Attendance ) and for a LONG time( Years ) these people( they are not members ) have been allowed to disseminate Messages that were never intended for the meetings. I could list dozens of them but I would be dating my membership period and it would be futile since they have become accepted conventions of AA life today ( Holding someones hand during a prayer ????)

  • shareholder4500 says:

    Continued: so …
    Continued: so should other poor sots. If he had not there would be treatment centers big and small all over the country charging people the how and why the 12 steps work sort of. OH! YEA… they allready exist and range from poorly run state facilities to POSH resorts selling The Twelve Steps to people, and have been since the seventies and were set up without AA’s concent, input, approval or copy rights to make money!!! Hmmmm AA like the Oxford groups has sighned its own death warrent.
