Tragedy in fashion, Hurricane Sandy to September 11

0 Tragedy in fashion, Hurricane Sandy to September 11Tragedy in fashion, Hurricane Sandy to September 11 – more: http://shootingbox.com/portfolio/?p=871

Fashion has a unique ability to wrap dramatic events in an artistic style, which often cause controversy. The latest example are the photographs in the February issue of the American edition of Vogue made by the editorial photographer Annie Leibovitz “Storm Troupers: Celebrating Hurricane Sandy’s First Responders”. She captured the special forces of the NYPD deployed during Hurricane Sandy with models Karlie Kloss, Kasia Struss, Chanel Iman, Liu Wen, Joan Smalls and Arizona Muse, wearing designs of the best New York collections Spring / Summer 2013.

Often people think fashion is frivolous and flighty – all aesthetics, with no meaning to back them up. However there are people who have been famous for their images of fashion, inspired by the human drama.

State Of Emergency
by Steven Meisel for Vogue Italia, 2006
State of emergency was en editorial, starring Hilary Rhoda and Iselin Steiro through which Meisel offered his personal view on the escalation of security measures imposed in US after the terrorist attacks in September 11 in 2006.

Gulf Oil Spill
by Steven Meisel for Vogue Italia, 2010
Meise’sl photographs of Kristen McMenamy denounce the ecological disaster that occurred at that time in the Gulf of Mexico, the worst oil spill in U.S. history. The irony was to use the clothing worth thousands of dollars.

Make Love Not War, Iraq War
by Steven Meisel for Vogue Italia, 2009
Meisel stirred up another controversy for this awesome photoshoot “Make Love Not War”. The series portrays sweaty, dirty soldiers in the middle of a war-zone interacting with models in a very “heated fashion.” More than 60 people including models, make up artists, stylists, and hairdressers collaborated to put this set together. Critics accused Meisel for glamorizing the war in Iraq.

Killed, September 11 Attacks
by Nick Knigh by Richard Bush, Nick Knight, Tim Waker and Terry Richardson, fashions from Raf Simons and Hussein Chalayan. 2001
“Killed”, the controversial editorial imagery followed the September 11 attacks, examines the criteria governing propriety in contemporary fashion publishing. The project focused on a fashion story commissioned and executed in summer 2001 for the October 2001 issue of i-D magazine that was rejected – or to use the industry term, ‘killed’ – for its coincidental referencing of the September 11 terrorist attacks. By juxtaposing the shoot with contemporary fashion imagery also executed prior to September 11, sharing the shoot’s challenging and even brutal aesthetic, Killed questions the criteria governing propriety in the industry and how the meaning of imagery becomes distorted by time and context.

Lara, Fiction Noir
by Steven Klein for Vogue Paris, 2009
One of the most controversial fashion editorials by one of the most admired photographer Steven Klein featuring Dutch model Lara Stone, who was nicknamed “gothic Brigitte Bardot” by designer Ricardo Tisci. The photographs and the film looks like a scenario of S&M went wrong, where this frail blonde lady becomes a super strong monster when her bad personality gets through. Visually stunning, clever advertisement for D&G lingerie.
A film by Steven Klein accompanying his Vogue Paris Feb09 editorial with Lara Stone, Travis Hanson & Doug Porter won the ‘Reflections’ jury prize at ‘A Shaded View on Fashion Film’ 2009 competition.

Super Models Enter Rehab
by Steven Meisel for Vogue Italia 2007
Meisel’s “Supermodels enter rehab” published in July 2007 has been his most subversive work, featuring Agyness Deyn, Denisa Dvorakova, Guinevere van Seenus, Irina Kulikova, Iselin Steiro, Lara Stone, Masha Tyelna, Missy Rayder, Sasha Pivovarova and Tasha Tilberg. The photographs comment on media and the publics obsession with addiction and madness and how it is perversely portrayed as decadent and glamourous. There are parallels with celebrity’s who had to endure treatment in the public eye like Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss, Mary Kate Olsen and Lindsay Lohan – not to mention Britney Spears and Paris Hilton’s infamous limo-flashes. It also references fantastic films like Girl Interrupted and One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest as well as classic, high brow publications like US Weekly and OK..

“I give them the method to change… by thinking” but they continue to repeat behaviors

0 I give them the method to change... by thinking but they continue to repeat behaviorsMotivational speaking is a beautiful thing. Negative comments or dislikes come from those that are bored, and yes, I understand, that boredom would be a horrible state of being. For this reason, such words as this are here to teach you how to see past the negative, to come to the positive, to live in a new hope, to find life. To get past the hypnotic state, to rise up from the farm where you’ve toiled for, looking back over your life, likely feels like nothing. To say goodbye to the gin, see a new morning and do the work you love. But you need to know how to get past the lame, and ancient knowledge could hold the mystery to the kim-possible in your life. See the landscape of the uncanny poetry in your heart, do the ventures, find mental health. The elusive rational thinking that leads you to waste valuable time leaving negative comments, striking dislikes, this is the work of a bully, bullying to cause others to be the victim while the rest of us work in realms that are not considered what sucks. Bullies are against good things, which causes things to rust and decay. Get a new way of thinking, or begin to think at all… this is your moment.

This is your moment, and the kind of thinking you can do makes the difference beginning right now

0 This is your moment, and the kind of thinking you can do makes the difference beginning right nowNot into motivational content? Please move to a different video instead of leaving dislikes and negativity. It is difficult for some people to learn new concepts. Learn to love and be loved. Do your purpose in life, the daydream that’s affected you in life, the ONE that has affected you knowing the POSITIVE effects your purpose can do to affect bringing real hope to this life.
This could be your moment, live it, in love, make every moment matter. This is a piece that shows two sides to life, the decision to think or not to think. When you think you can create great improvements to your life and the lives of others, if not, you are causing the problems to get worse, it’s up to you. You must make a choice, as making no choice is choosing to let things do the opposite of improving.
Some people, some companies, some entities have lost their way. They have missed the heart of their real intentions which once were good, which can be again. Not sure what state of being you’re in now? Are you on the farm or in the city? Do you claim to be doing your whole purpose in this life? … or do you deny that there is purpose though you’ve stated it in your own life’s policies. When the company violates trust it’s time for new training manuals.Utilization helps in improving the policy for the holder. Otherwise, the defection happens because cookie-cutter works only for a while.
