Traffic Services
416-808-1900
In 2009, the Toronto Police Service Traffic Services Unit and the Toronto Police Service Financial Crimes Unit, assisted by members of the Insurance Bureau of Canada and Financial Services Commission of Ontario, identified 10 key people and 35 others who allegedly played a role in a series of fraudulently staged collisions and insurance claims during Project Whiplash.
“IBC applauds Toronto Police Service for their commitment to this case,” said Rick Dubin, VP, Investigations, Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC). “Overall, it was an excellent co-operative effort involving police, IBC, individual insurers and the Financial Services Commission of Ontario. Insurance fraud is a serious crime that costs all of us in the form of health care, emergency services, court and insurance costs. When they cheat, we all pay.”
It is alleged that:
- a number of billing inaccuracies made to State Farm Insurance from various physiotherapy clinics in Toronto were discovered
- eight local physiotherapy clinics have been identified and are owned and operated by the accused
- billing forms included names and registration numbers, fraudulently obtained, of several medical professionals who were not employed by the clinics and who had resigned from the clinics or, if they were employed, did not provide treatment the named patients
It is further alleged that:
- numerous staged motor vehicle collisions were executed and some submitted cases did not occur
- in some cases, previously damaged vehicles were made to appear as if they had been involved in a new collision
- police investigations were started, reports would be generated, and the parties involved would later claim to be injured and seek the assistance of the identified paralegals who would file all the required paperwork with the insurance company
- in some cases, the accused permitted their names to be used on the collision form and used by the clinics and paralegals, when they were not involved in any collision, staged or fabricated
- the insurance claims sought benefits for recovering costs associated with auto repairs, physiotherapy and chiropractic rehabilitation, home care, transportation, and income-replacement, whether the people were employed or not, amongst other miscellaneous expenditures

Do you know?
Many people without proper training in speech language pathology are also involved in stammering and other communication disorder treatment. Few organize workshop for people having stammering .Many ex-stammerer without having training in speech language pathology are also write about themselves speech therapist/doctor designation in India and run stammering cure center, speech therapy center ,stammering care center and conduct stammering correction classes due to lack of awareness. Some of this quack will take guarantee for stammering cure/therapy. Truth is different. There is no 100% cure for stammering. It can be managed by speech therapy and management can be that an extent hardly any one notice the person is having stammering. I have seen a few people from MBBS background, those who were not able to get PG seat in their field ,also talk about stammering and conduct workshop for people having stammering for money making/unemployment. We know their training are in medicine and surgery. There is no medicine and no surgery for stammering. But still they will talk about stammering.
Few doctors suggest medicine also but the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has not approved any drug for the treatment of stuttering. However, some drugs that are approved to treat other health problems—such as epilepsy, anxiety, or depression—have been used to treat stuttering. These drugs often have side effects that make them difficult to use over a long period of time. In a recent study funded by the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD), researchers concluded that drug therapy has been largely ineffective in controlling stuttering. Clinical trials of other possible drug treatments are currently under way.

Demi Moore Settles In To a Posh Rehab Clinic
The 49-year old actress is getting intense treatment at the luxurious $1,500 a day Cirque Lodge in Sundance, Utah.
Demi was admitted last week and is now reportedly undergoing intense treatment and is in almost complete seclusion, only interacting with a small group of people.
One of her possible fellow treatment seekers? Charlie Sheen’s ex Brooke Mueller, who entered the facility a few weeks prior to Demi.
New details are also emerging about the night of Demi’s famous 911 call. Sources confirm that Demi was partying with Glenn Close’s 21-year old daughter. She is one of Rumor Willis’ friends and can be heard, among others, on the call assisting Demi after her collapse. But with that night now behind her, Demi is on her way to recovery and she’s in good hands.
The super-posh Cirque Lodge has also helped Lindsay Lohan, Mary-Kate Olsen and Eva Mendes overcome their addictions. Do we have to be fighting an addiction to get into this place??
