    Having all …
Having all parameters on your fingertips and no need to switch trough hundreds of display pages is what you call N O T user friendly? Man, you really need to do your homework. I assume you haven’t even looked inside the manual once, have you? Sorry ’bout that but I just can’t stand it if people buy something, spend no time with it and then say it’s not working… patience and interest is the key here brother. I hope you’ve managed to get into it by now.

basically this synthesizer is basically you create your own sounds I wouldnt mind getting this synth. plus I play 8 string guitar too, yep guitar and synthesizer is my main musical weapon

But, i will admit, this sounds like a better synth, but for people who owned alot of roland (Alpha 2, Juno 106, JV-1080,JV-1010, SH-101, JP8000) like me, it was more upsetting to see it exist than it was to feel ripped off. I loved Roland as a teen in the 90′s, and this isn’t up to par with what they once made, they used to lead the game, now they are in last place. I even had a Boss Dr. Synth, and thought it even sounded better than the 201. Just FYI, you can get a JP8000 for the price of Gaia.

  • MrJonnybexar says:

    That is an …
That is an incredibly valid statement, but you left out one important thing; the pricetag. When i bought the SH-201 i wasn’t so upset about the synth in general as i was that it cost so much. It did sound cheap, but the price made it much more upsetting. I imagine this is a better synth, but ill never know, Roland lost me. I felt the 201 was too simple, and was disappointed to figure it out so easily. Also people hold Roland to a higher standard because of the legends they once produced.

LMFAO! You can set the polarity. It does make the user look dopey, but I’ll sacrifice that for another modulation source any day!

  • verve92 says:

    He’s thinking of …
He’s thinking of these dopes on message boards like Gearslutz. Total idiots. They think a synth sucks if its not a $3000 analogue, which have their own set of limitations. The pros have LOVED it like in Mix Magazine, Keyboard Mag, etc. Funny how these message board idiots never have any music to share. many of these guys judge lots of gear by Youtube vids rather than their own ears. Real musicians overcome limitations of gear!

Great sounds, thanks for the video! Are there any books on Gaia that somebody would recommend? I’m fairly new and just finished putting together a DAW using Abelton and FL Studio, and my GAIA is supposed to be here next week.

    Those who are …
Those who are criticizing a synth are frustrated people. Yes, I agree to show the weak parts of a synth, but all synths have bad parts, even those of thousands euro/usd (I cand find at least 5 minuses on a Virus or Andromeda etc). Gaia it is a very nice synth! There is no bad synth. Only lazy users to discover it secrets ;)

  • TheBzg07 says:

    I got this …
I got this synthesizer basically when it came out, and it got trashed in the reviews after I bought it, i’m really glad to see other people than me enjoying it.

I gladly accept a Roland SH-01 synth for free (i’ll pay for shipping). Give me one now, and I’ll throw in a free bottle of the purest swedish water from an uncontaminated watersupply. Or else I’ll cry myself to sleep from now until forever. And if forever doesn’t exist, I’ll cry until half-time :(

    To me it basically …
To me it basically sounds like a square sound with the lfo controlling the filter cutoff frequency…

I don’t like D-beam cos it makes you do a hitler salute

  • Alba Ecstasy says:

    when you load a …
when you load a patch created by me, Gaia will play it. When you connect Gaia to computer, if you don’t have the plugin for Gaia [which it cost few bucks], you will record only MIDI data [pitch notes], but if you plug the Gaia through a audio interface, you’ll be able to record the sound you play. To load a patch into Gaia, please read the manual.

  • Alba Ecstasy says:

    honestly I can …
honestly I can remember now: I don’t have anymore the Gaia – to recreate the steps [and I never write the steps on paper, I just remember but ony with the synth in front of me :D ]. But one day, when I’ll get a new one, with pleasure, I will explain it!

I am still new to all this. I’m going to purchase this keyboard. Help me understand. If I download a patch, what does that do? I know I would have to hook the Gaia to the computer via the usb cord…but what program do I use to hear the sounds on the computer? Also, with your patch downloaded….what does that mean?
