What kind of medication is usually prescribed for sore throat that is consistent?

I’ve had this fever a few weeks ago alongside with sore throat and a runny nose. The doctor prescribed me some pastilles and fluids to clean my throat. The fever went away by itself, but the sore throat is still there. What kind of medications should I buy? I am seeing the doc in a few days, but I’m just being curious.

Prescribing medicine is a doctors easy way out. You want to find out what is causing your sore throat. It could be symptomatic of something else. Poor diet leads to weakened immune system. Dust mites can cause a sore throat to be persistent until the problem is dealt with. Do you dress properly for the weather…scarf..explore the reasons and you will fix your sore throat.

Buy ludens throat drops. I prefer the cherry kind because they taste like candy. They stop throat pains for about 2 hours and then you can just take another.

They taste great and work instantly!

If you want that sore throat to vanish do this recipe!
    1 bunch fresh thyme leaves
the zest and juice of two large lemons
1/2 cup crushed and chopped mint leaves
    2 TBS fresh grated ginger
2/3 cup of honey (more or less to taste)
    8 cups boiling hot water
    1) Put water on to boil. As you wait for the heat to come up do the following:
    2) Either chop the whole stem or remove the leaves from the thyme. Either way is fine. Add Thyme to pot along with the mint leaves.
    3) Be sure you scrub the lemons with hot soapy water, even if you use organic. Get a zester and remove all zest from lemons and add to pot. If you have no zester use a vegetable peeler to just get the top yellow skin off of the lemon. Then chop it up real good. Be sure to avoid getting the bitter white pith.
    4) Grate 2 TBS fresh ginger into pot.
    5) once it comes to a boil remove from heat. I prefer to steep this in a large glass pitcher or bowl. I have used the decanter on my coffee maker as well. Just be sure to temper it first so it does not break.
    6) Steep this for 15-20 minutes stirring several times through out.
7)Use a wire mesh strainer and pour into a pitcher. add the juice from the lemons and the honey and stir well. Drink in small amounts through out the day in 1/2 cup increments as needed. You will need to stir this before you pour any each time because the good stuff settles at the bottom. You may drink this warm or cold. This is very good for a sore throat.
